Jon Marshall is currently researching the intersection between computer software and disorder with James Goodman of FASS at UTS and Prof. Didar Zowghi of IT at UTS.

Previous research has included investigations of online gender, bodies, netsex and general online ethnography. 

Other investigations have focused on the relations between science and the occult, the sociology of imagination, and the social application of Jungian Psychology.
